So Baby Evan is 18 months. Time is flying by at record pace. Evan's 18 month stats: 23 lbs (20th percentile), 31.5 inches (~20th percentile). Yep, we have a pretty small dude, but he's in the double digits now thanks to whole milk yogurt and his love of fried chicken tenders.
So what is Evan like at 18 months?
- He loves life and loves to giggle at silly things. Especially his Da. They have started this new sound when we pass over bumps in the car and Evan does it all the time.
- He still loves to suck his fingers and have something soft in his other hand. Probably need to work on breaking this habit but for now it is just so darn convenient.
- He loves to read books. Right now he's really into slide and find books and has almost destroyed his first pop up book.
- He loves to play with his Little People toys. This is definitely genetic. Brian and I were big into Little People when we were little. His favorites are probably the school bus and Noah's Ark.
- He loves being dropped off at Daycare at Ms. Irene's. He's now sitting at the big kids table but refuses to nap on a cot like the rest of the big kids. So it is still a Pack and Play for Evan.
- He hates being dropped off at the church nursery. I guess this isn't as consistent as Ms. Irene's or something.
- He has learned to drink from a straw. He likes milkshakes. He loves yogurt, chicken flavored and Mexican rice, chicken tenders, french fries and cereal bars. And Oreos are still his top cookie. He's figured out a way to only eat the icing.
- He's got a couple of back molars now. Last weekend wasn't to much fun for Evan - we think he was cutting more.
- He says probably 15 words but knows what probably 150 mean. He loves to look at the word books and point to things as you name them. What a smart little cookie!
- He loves to climb on his chair, the couch, pretty much anywhere it is soft.
- He loves to wave at everyone we pass in the grocery store but will start crying if they try to talk to him.
- He gives us lots of really good hugs now. A hug from Evan is typically him grabbing your face and pulling it close.
- He loves to watch Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. It is actually not too annoying to his parents, which is an added bonus.
- He still loves to be outside. However, its 100 degrees here in Texas almost every day now, so we typically can only go out in the mornings.
- He knows where his nose, teeth, eyes and toes are.
- He can run around the house. Brian and I watch him do this most nights and get tired after about 10 minutes.
- He loves to take a bath, but it starting to get quite fussy during wash time. So we save that for the end now and do it right before we take him out.
- He is still not a big fan of drinking liquids. But he loves to have apple juice with ice in it.
- He's started using a "big boy sippy cup" which is a cup without handles.
- He takes about a 2 hour nap every afternoon and still sleeps about 12 hours every night (although the shorter days are not conducive to this right now).
- He is wearing size 18 month clothes, but we're headed to 24 month clothes here at record speed. He wears size 5 wide shoes...too funny he has wide feet! He wears size 4 diapers.
- He brightens our lives every day and we are SO blessed that God has trusted us with such a sweet little man.
Sucking fingers in the morning. Gotta have some Velcro. His other pair of shoes will work in a pinch.
Evan's feathers in full effect.
He can make some huge messes at dinner...especially with rice.
Pretending (this is something new for him too!) to drink from his Book Worm cup from Grandma Candi.
